Event Promotion Flyers

A variety of flyer templates are available for use below. Each template provides layout options. You may add photos to provide additional impact, but it is not required. Clip art is discouraged on flyers.

Flyer templates are appropriate when:

  • Publicizing recurring events, such as Cultural Diversity Brown Bag Lectures.
  • Publicizing an internal event, such as a training session.

Guidelines for posters at hospital locations

Posters may be placed at select locations within the hospital and other sites, with prior approval. If you would like to display a poster, please contact Corporate Communications at ext. 7-5266.

Academic and Scientific Symposia or Conference Flyers

Instructions for working with new photos and rounded corners in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint

To replace an existing photo:

  1. Open the flyer template
  2. Click on the picture to select it
  3. Under Drawing Tools, click the Format tab, then click the Shape Fill arrow
  4. In lower list, click Picture...
  5. Browse your files, select the picture you would like to use, and then click Insert.
  6. Select the photo and adjust the dimensions as needed by clicking and dragging the corners.
  7. Click File, click Save As, change the file name, and then click Save.

NOTE: After adjusting the dimension of the picture to capture the part of the photo you want, you can scale the photo by selecting one of the corner points while holding Shift. Move the corner points to the center of the photo to the size you need.

To insert a new photo with rounded corners:

  1. Click the Insert tab.
  2. In the Illustrations group, click Shapes.
  3. Choose the Rounded Rectangle from the Basic Shapes section of the shape palette.
  4. Under Basic Shapes, click the Rounded Rectangle and then click and drag the pointer to where you would like to place your picture.
  5. On the Drawing Tools Format tab, in the Shape Styles group, click the Shape Fill arrow.
  6. In the lower list, click Picture...
  7. Browse your files, select the picture you would like to use, and then click Insert.
  8. To adjust the radius of the corners, click the yellow diamond and move it toward the corner of the rectangle.
  9. If the picture is squished or stretched, click to select it and click the Drawing Tools Format tab.
  10. In the Shape Styles group, click on the little arrow box in the bottom right corner to open Format AutoShape.
  11. On the Colors and Lines tab, click the Fill Effects button.
  12. Select the Lock picture aspect ratio check box, click OK, and then click OK again.
  13. To adjust the dimensions of the picture, click to select it, and ten click and drag the corners.

NOTE: After adjusting the dimension of the picture to capture the part of the photo you want, you can scale the photo  to the size you need, by selecting and moving one of the corner points to the center while pressing Shift.

To inserting shapes with rounded corners in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint:

  1. Click the Insert tab.
  2. In the Illustrations group, click Shapes.
  3. Under Basic Shapes, click the Rounded Rectangle, and then press and drag the pointer to place the header.
  4. To adjust the radius of the corners, click the yellow diamond and move it toward the corner of the rectangle.
  5. On the Format tab, click Shape Fill.
  6. In the lower list, click More Fill Colors…
  7. Click the Custom tab, and then select RGB in the Color Model.
  8. Using the Seattle Children’s Color Palette, select the correct color formula, and then click OK.
  9. Click the Round Rectangle to select it.
  10. On the Format tab, click Shape Outline, and then click No Outline.

Provider Biography Card template

The Provider Biography (Bio) Card project was initiated by clinical staff and program assistants to alleviate an increase in requests for a printed piece that would allow easy, standardized sharing of basic Provider information with patients and families.

BioCrd_template single

The template is provided in Word format, designed to print two cards to a sheet of 8.5″ x 11″ paper. Simply fill out one card, and copy/paste to create the second.
